We all know the health benefits of salmon, and lately I’ve been trying to incorporate it more often for dinner.  I’ve tried a few recipes that the kids didn’t like, however this Teriyaki Salmon with Sesame Seeds has been a game changer.  I make chicken teriyaki with broccoli so I thought I’d try it with salmon and see how it goes.  I was happy to see that everyone loved it and they said it could stay on the menu rotation too.  It’s simple to make, and most likely you have the ingredients for the sauce in your pantry…enjoy!

Ingredients
  1. 1/4 cup sesame oil
  2. 2 Tbsp. rice wine vinegar
  3. 1/4 cup soy sauce
  4. 3 Tbsp. brown sugar
  5. 1 Tbsp. honey
  6. 1 Tbsp. sesame seeds
  7. 1 tsp. ground ginger
  8. 2 tsp. minced garlic
  9. 4 (6 ounce) salmon steaks or fillets
Instructions
  1. Mix sesame oil, vinegar, soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, sesame seeds, ginger, and garlic in a small saucepan over low heat.
  2. Bring to a simmer, stirring until sugar has dissolved.
  3. Set aside 1/2 cup of marinade for basting.
  4. Pour remaining marinade into a bag and place in the salmon.
  5. Marinate over night for maximum flavor, or at least three hours.
  6. Drain and discard used marinade.
  7. Set oven rack to medium shelf and preheat the oven's broiler.
  8. Place salmon steaks into a broiler pan and broil for 5 minutes.
  9. Brush steaks with reserved marinade, turn, and broil until fish is opaque and flakes easily, about 5-6 more minutes.
  10. Brush again with marinade; serve and enjoy!
