The theme of this week’s Real Simple Dinnertime Challenge is
GET CONNECTED!

Kristin and Allie talk about different games you can play with your family at the dinner table!

This week, along with the usual tips and video on RealSimple.com, the Real Simple Blog  features a guest post from producer and humanitarian Laurie David, whose current cause is bringing families together at dinnertime. Her book, The Family Dinner, is filled with great recipes, conversation starters, and games, and greatly resonates with Real Simple’s theme for the week.  Check out Laurie’s 5 Family Food Rules.  I think they’re great!

For more great tips and info about the book, visit The Family Dinner Blog.

I would love to win this because I am always looking for new ieas. I hate to be that person that makes the same thing over and over. I want to make things that people REMEMBER and ask about and are in awe of.

I’d love to win this book for many reasons. Mostly because I didn’t grow up with the family dinnertable. We ate on dinner trays in the living room. Dad would watch TV and we’d watch what he picked. I now have 2 boys and I LOVE when we all have dinner together. We can all catch up and talk about our days. But I’m Greek and we love our food. Everything is better shared over a meal!

I would love to win this book. My family needs ideas to reconnect. I think we have lost some connection due to tvs, computers, activities, work…I believe in accountability and this book might help with that since it can provide daily activities, recipes etc

I would love to win this to help my family reconnect. We don’t eat dinner together very often anymore and I would love to hear some new ideas on how to bring us back together!

I have 2 children. Dinnertime is usually a power struggle with the 3 year old over what he doesn’t want to eat. My 8 year old has ADD and can’t sit still, knocks her food/drink over, and makes me crazy. I try (I really do) to make conversation and sit and enjoy each other and not be stressed about the going on’s at the dinner table but more often than not it is not enjoyable. I would love to be able to change that.

We truly value our time with the kids at suppertime. It’s very important -my family/parents always supported it as much as possible and I have carried that on with my kids. I would rally like to get some more ideas, though, around bonding time at the dinner table.

I retweeted and now follow Real Simple. I really need this book because I have an eleven y.o. girl and my fiancé, the same. Dinner with tweens is a REAL challenge! I would love some good advice and tips to make our dinner time fun, pleasant and enjoyable—that time is a great opportunity for quality time with the girls.

My family could definitely use the help in reconnecting with one another. I try to make our evening meal “family time” but usually the teens and hubby scatter to tvs, computers, iPad … and so I eat and read alone. I am tired of this and want to take back my family!!! This book sounds awesome and I would very much love to win this giveaway!
