In the middle of a hot summer, who couldn’t use 300 fresh, flavorful recipes for those lazy hazy days? Jeff Cox, author of 18 books on food, wine, and gardening, is giving one of my lucky readers an autographed copy of The Big Summer Cookbook!
Jeff Cox has quite a list of accomplishments! Taken from his website:
Jeff Cox is the author of 18 books on food, wine, and gardening. He’s hosted two television series-Your Organic Garden on PBS and Grow It! on HGTV. He’s been the restaurant reviewer for the Santa Rosa (CA) Press Democrat since 1993. He was the managing editor of Organic Gardening magazine through the decade of the 1970s. He’s written a column for the San Francisco Chronicle, and is Contributing Editor of both The Wine News and Horticulture Magazine. He writes frequently for Decanter, an English wine magazine. He’s a member of the James Beard Foundation and the Association of Food Journalists. He’s won many awards for his many endeavors. Jeff has a degree in journalism from Lehigh University, has raised five kids, and lives with his wife Susanna in Kenwood, California.

Hmmm….I don’t know that I have a go to summer meal. I make just about the same stuff that I do in every other season. But I do love my shrimp and penna pasta dish, and I’ve made it a lot this summer.

Simple grilled chicken, either in a teryaki sauce or bbq sauce, then a nice summer salad to go with it. Or, hot dogs… I love dogs on the grill, always feels like summer once I start making those, along with some bbq beans and potato salad - YUM!

we’re in Florida and with the tempeture and humidity we try to stay with cold meals so this summer I’ve made a lot of cold cut sandwiches. doesn’t heat up the house and saves a little on electricity!!
