Mini Pies Cookbook Giveaway!

THIS GIVEAWAY IS OVER!

I love the trend of “mini” desserts!  They’re just so cute!

This cookbook includes a variety of crusts:  Perfect Pie Crust, Graham Cracker, Vegan, Nutty, Gluten-Free, Cheddar Cheese, Shortbread, and even Pie in a Jar.  The pie recipes are divided into fruit pies, creamy custard pies, and nut and savory pies.  There is also a chapter on various toppings.

There are some great lookin’ mini pies in this book, but I knew I couldn’t go wrong with Aunt Jimma’s Chocolate Cream on page 81.  The “perfect pie crust” was easy to make in the food processor and the chocolate filling was cooked on the stove.  The recipe called for a toasted meringue on top but I was in a hurry and just used whipped topping.  The recipe made a dozen cute, little mini pies.  The crust was flaky and the filling was nice and chocolatey!  I enjoyed every bite!

The Mini Pies Cookbook is quite small (6 x 5.5 x 0.7 inches) but it’s filled with some great holiday recipes - Savory Sweet Potato, Bourbon Pecan, and Rocky Road to name a few.  If you’re looking for some different dessert ideas for the holidays, this will come in handy.

You can find Mini Pies at Amazon.com.

I’ve never made mini pies but I LOVE pecan pie!! and Razzleberry pie!! My mom and I were just talking earlier today about how we have both quit making deserts now that we each live alone. We can’t eat the whole pie or cake so we just dont make it. These minis would definitely get desserts back in our lives.

I love anything “mini” as well! :) They are just perfect 1 or 2 biters and it’s the perfect way for portion control. 😉 And I need all the help I can get to “control” myself cos I really love sweets and desserts! I made some mini-egg custard tarts (Traditional Hong Kong Style bakery goodness) and love them.

We have been making mini pies in my family for over 30 years. My grandmother, for as far back as I can remember always made mini strawberry/rhubarb and cream pies. Then my mother started in with pecan.

I’ve never made a mini pie, but I used to make a coffee-cup chocolate cake all the time when I was a student. Creating a mini pie sounds like it will cause me to eat a more sensible portion of pie… instead of the whole thing!

I just made mini pies on Sunday night for Christmas gifts. I made them in mason Jars so they are frozen raw and then given to family so that they can bake them whenever they want them. Not as cute as the tarts, but more practical for gift giving. I would love to make some of the cream pies or maybe even pecan pies.

The only mini pies I have made are a recipe called Sweetie pies which are like mini cherry cheesecakes. My family all like a different type of pie so I’m thinking with mini pies I can make something that we all like.
