Finding kid-friendly, healthy meals is a challenge. Finding kid-friendly, healthy meals that can be made ahead of time and saved or frozen for future use is even more of a challenge. Over the years we have been collecting recipes in our Thriving Home Recipe Index that meet this criteria and more. We don’t put anything in our recipe index that we haven’t tried and don’t personally recommend.
We love our recipes and stand behind each one. Because we have so many, I thought it might be helpful to feature some that are particularly kid friendly. Each of these has been kid-tested and kid-approved. All of them can be made and frozen ahead of time as well. We love to sneak nutrition into our recipes so you may find some surprising ingredients in a few of them.
Breakfast
Whole Wheat Chocolate Banana Muffins
I have lost count of how many batches of these muffins I have made. My kids love them. They are moist, full of flavor, and super nutritious! Double the batch and freeze in an airtight container for future use!
These were a hit with my family. They are also super easy to make and have simple ingredients that you likely already have in your kitchen. You can also easily customize the recipe according to your preferences.
Lunch
I love having a batch of these roll-ups in the freezer. They have proven over and over again to be a great lunch for all ages. I like to freeze them individually for an easy, right out of the freezer meal.
What kids don’t like a good bowl of mac and cheese? This recipe puts the Kraft box mac and cheese to shame. It is packed with nutrition but still has the cheesy goodness that kids love. If you are making this meal ahead of time, whip it up and freeze it before you bake it.
Dinner
My family LOVES this recipe. My husband demanded that it be put in the regular rotation of meals in our household. I also love it because it’s really easy to make and also really easy to assemble and freeze for the future.
I’ve never had a problem with my kids eating this recipe. It is so delicious. It also make TONS of leftovers so you can have it for future lunches or dinners later in the week.
Make sure to pin these recipes so you have them on hand for the future! For more healthy freezer-friendly recipes, check out our recipe index. You’ll also probably like our freezer meal page which has over 60 recipes that can be made ahead of time.
Let us know if you get to try one of our recipes out. We love to hear feedback on our recipes!
