First up, the Microplane Garlic Mincer.


If you have a child at home that likes to help in the kitchen, they would have fun with this (as long as they are being supervised).  You just need to make sure that the yellow button is pushed in all the way and the blade on the left side is lined up properly.  Then you’ll have some perfectly minced garlic!  The Microplane Garlic Mincer is available at Williams-Sonoma for $24.95.

 

The second kitchen tool is the Microplane Artisan Series Medium Ribbon Grater.

This is the Microplane Easy Prep Meat Tenderizer.  It sells for $19.95 at Microplane.com.  What do you think?  Perfect for Father’s Day, huh?  Dave thought it was pretty cool!

 

Don’t worry, it comes with a guard!

 

I tested it out on some sirloin tips.  All you have to do is rock it back and forth.  It takes less than a minute to do both sides.  Our steak came out very good!

    I would give these tools to my husband for Father’s Day. He loves to cook and our family loves to eat everything he makes. He doesn’t like to bake cakes pies, cookies etc. - that’s my department. 🙂

    I think I would keep the first two tools for myself, but I’d give the meat tenderizer to my parents. A few years ago my mom stopped making round steak because she thinks that the hammer like meat tenderizer caused their countertop to crack. They’ve never bothered to get a blade type tenderizer, but I bet they’d like it.

    Microplane Kitchen Tools? I unabashedly pronounce that they would be for me! I have been coveting them, and the Dad around here is not one of those grilling and cooking Dads. I would let him eat the steak though. He’s quite partial to Chicke Fried Steak and I would make it for him. Imagine that wonderful tool with the fierce teeth tenderizing that meat!

    My dad passed away a few years ago, so I would give them to my boyfriend instead…he’s a chef in a restaurant but we don’t have many kitchen tools like this at home yet!
