Our family likes burgers a lot! I make loaded burgers, stuffed burgers, and now these delicious Classic Flat Burgers with the Perfect Sear. These burgers are flat and cooked until there is a nice crust on the burger. They remind me of the burgers you get at diners that are made on a flat top! They always seem to taste better so I decided to give it a try and I’m very happy with the results. I like to use an 80/20 beef, keep it cold, and assemble right before cooking so it’s not handled that much. I also like to use a cast iron skillet, however if you don’t have one, just make sure you’re skillet is nice and hot. You see that perfect sear on the bottom? That’s what it’s all about!

- 2 pounds ground beef (80/20)
- garlic powder
- onion powder
- salt
- black pepper
- In a bowl combine beef, a dash of garlic powder and onion powder; gently mix to combine.
- Form into burgers then season the outside with salt and pepper.
- Add butter to skillet, and place over medium/high heat.
- Place the burgers into the skillet.
- Cook, without moving, until you get a deep, dark crust on the bottom.
