A Day at Fenway Park

My husband Dave is a big Red Sox fan.  So for Valentine’s Day, I got him two tickets for yesterday’s 1:00 game against the Blue Jays in Boston.

We drove an hour to the Riverside Train Station so we could ride the T to Fenway.  Dave is the one with the camera bag on the left.  Don’t ask me why the man on the right is wearing a Santa suit.  I’m guessing he’s wearing red for the Red Sox game.  Pretty creative, don’t you think?

This is one of the many vendors on Yawkey Way where you enter the stadium.

I get a kick out of entertainers on stilts!

We got to Fenway Park more than an hour before the game started so we could take pictures of the players.

We managed to make our way to this spot, right next to the Red Sox dug out.  That’s “Big Papi” (David Ortiz)!  I love him.  He’s always so good with the fans!

Hello!  Can’t get much closer than this!

A good day for my sports fan!

It was only about 45°F, so I started out with some tasty clam chowder and Dave had a manly sausage sub.  Of course, I had to have a Fenway Frank while I was there and Dave had a hot pretzel.  I bought some hot chocolate to warm me up, but it wasn’t piping hot to begin with so it didn’t help too much.

It’s funny…I found the vendors helpful, yet distracting.  They came by so much that they often got in the way.  The mother in me kept wishing they’d put a sweatshirt on because it was so darn cold!

I love a good marriage proposal on the jumbotron!  I’m sappy like that!

By the end of the 5th inning, I believe I lost all feeling in my cold feet and found myself wondering why I bought tickets for a game in April!

I think what helped us bear the cold was taking all kinds of pics like this with our new camera.

The Blue Jays didn’t score in the 9th inning so we won 4 - 1!  This was a big deal because the Red Sox got off to a very rough start this year!

Now we just need to get out of 5th place in the American League East!

I’m not a sports fan like Dave, but it sure is fun to get away from the computer and housework and do something different!  We love to explore Boston whenever we get a chance.  What do you do to have a little fun?

It looks like you guys had a great time despite the cold. When I went to a game the Red Sox lost, but it was still a great experience!

We love baseball too…we are Giant’s fans over here in CA. It’s a great, relaxing way to spend the day with your hubby. That is, if you are not on vacation on a tropical island. We usually go to a ball game every year around my hubby’s birthday, just the two of us for a date. Looks like you had a great time. :)
