THIS GIVEAWAY IS OVER!

The new Wüsthof Classic 6-inch Utility Chopper is now available and it’s so much fun to use!

Overview: Wüsthof introduces a versatile Classic 6-inch Utility Chopper (model 4192) to its best-selling Classic collection of precision forged, full tang knives. Designed to make fast work of chopping a variety of vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients, the new Classic 6-inch Utility Chopper will be available exclusively at Williams-Sonoma for $99.95 suggested retail.

Features: Unlike standard utility knives, which have a narrow, straight-edged or serrated blade, Wüsthof’s new Classic 6-inch Utility Chopper features a wide blade – similar in shape to the popular Santoku knife – with a razor-sharp, reversed scalloped edge that cuts easily through the tough-skinned ingredients, such as summer-ripe tomatoes, or the crustiest of sandwiches, without shredding or tearing.

Ideal for everyday food prep, including chopping and slicing onions, carrots, salad greens, apples, bananas, pears and other medium and small size produce and fruits, the knife’s scalloped blade also aids in reducing blade “stickiness” when slicing though meaty eggplant, squash, and starchy vegetables, like white and sweet potatoes. Additionally, the new knife’s wide blade design facilitates scraping and scooping up chopped ingredients for convenient transport from the cutting board to pans and bowls.

Classic: Wüsthof’s best selling collection for generations, Classic full-tang knives are precision-forged from a single piece of an exclusive high-carbon, stain-resistant alloy, which is engineered to enhance edge-retention and to facilitate re-sharpening. The steel used for the Classic line features a hardness that is approximately 58 on the Rockwell hardness scale. Completely buffed and polished by hand, the Classic knife blade is seamlessly attached to highly durable black handles with triple rivets for a totally hygienic and secure fit.

Classic knives feature a new handle design made of a highly durable synthetic material – Polyoxymethylene (POM) – which has a tighter molecular structure to resist fading and discoloration. Additionally, the shape of the handle is more rounded for a comfortable and sure grip.

Classic handles also include a new Wüsthof patented feature designed to eliminate the possibility of rusting or pitting of the stainless steel rivets or the knife’s tang, which could occur from contact with impurities, high humidity, or salt water.

Classic knives feature the company’s signature bolster/finger guard at the base of the blade, which accounts for the cutlery’s heft, and solid, balanced feel.

All Wüsthof knives are fully guaranteed to be free of defects in craftsmanship.

Background: Classic knives are crafted in Solingen, Germany — Wüsthof-Trident’s manufacturing and headquarters base since the company’s founding more than 175 years ago. A family-
owned and managed company with a rich heritage, the first Wüsthof factory was listed as early as 1814 in official documents of the Duchy of Berg. Additionally, the famous “Trident” logo was first registered in 1895. With a proud tradition that spans 7 generations, Wüsthof continues to uphold its simple mission to create the finest cutlery in the world.

Wüsthof products are sold at select specialty and department stores in more than 70 countries around the world. They are sought-after and used in the finest dining establishments, and the most prestigious culinary institutions training tomorrow’s rising star chefs.

Here are a few photos I took as I tested out the Utility Chopper.

Slicing mushrooms is a breeze with this knife!

I sliced up a pork tenderloin and it cut like a dream!

I also used the Utility Chopper to make french fries. I found that I had to make more of a sawing motion due to the wetness of the potato.

I have used this knife to cut up tomatoes, green peppers and squash with great success. I highly recommend this knife!

Check out this video.  You can’t help but be impressed with the quality of Wusthof Knives!

Every cook needs at least one truly wonderful knife in their kitchen. I would love to have this one. Thanks again for such a great giveaway!

  2. 23

    says

I would love to win because honestly, my knives are wretched. I bought cheap and well, they work as well as cheap knives do. I think I’d be more apt to buy a Wusthof set if I tried one out first and I spend more time in the kitchen than anywhere else.

    Stephanie Mather says

I need a new Knife. All mine are hand me downs and that’s just wrong for someone who cooks!

  4. 66

    Arlene Hall says

I would like to try this knife out because I just can’t seem to get the hang of chopping with a chef’s knife or santoku, they both seem too long and unweildy for me. As a result, I kind of hack my way through everything with my stubby paring knife. This knife seems to be in between the 2 sizes, sounds like just the right size for me.

  5. 81

    Schmidty says

The size of this knife seems perfect …a bit larger than my paring knife I seem to go-to for most everything and smaller than my large knife that has never felt comfortable to use. I’d love to own it for my heftier jobs that my paring knife isn’t quite adequate for.

  6. 92

    says

This knife to me looks like it might be what I’m looking for a good sharp knife that cuts with ease and perfectly used for just about anything it can chop. I need a good knife like that.

I would love to add this little knife to my collection. Actually, I would love to take it to our house at the beach. It is always hard to find a great knife there.

    Wehaf says

The only good knife I have is a large chef’s knife, which is great, but too big for lots of things. Also, it means only one person can cut at a time. This would be perfect for making cooking faster and more convenient.

  12. 194

    Lisa Flynn says

I would love to win this knife because I really need a good knife. My knives are not of very good quality.

I would LOVE to win this knife! I recently got rid of my old block set, it was absolutely horrible. I couldn’t get it to hold an edge no matter how hard I tried. I’ve been slooooooooooooooowly buying a good knife here and there, and Wusthof is what I decided on. So far I have an 8″ chef’s knife, a 6″ utility knife, and a 3.5″ pairing knife. All from the classic line. This knife would fit right in! :)
