CHEFS Catalog is back with an awesome giveaway!
Have you ever heard of the Sous Vide? It’s an incredible appliance used by many chefs and home cooks! Check out this video!
Product Description
The SousVide Supreme Demi offers the unparalleled cooking performance of the original SousVide Supreme water oven in a compact appliance. This once-secret method of slow simmering for healthy cooking transforms meats, vegetables, seafood and fruit into succulent, delicious meals. Season food, add to pouch and seal, fill water to indicated level and let the compact SousVide simmer for minutes, hours, even days. With the precise temperature control, you are guaranteed rich and moist textures not achievable with any other cooking method. Unsurpassed, nutrient-rich flavor and negligible moisture loss. Simple to operate with outstanding gourmet results every time without even lifting the lid.
Meats taste richer, ribs have a fall-off-the-bone texture that is as moist as it is tender. Seafood acquires a velvety smoothness without odors lingering in the kitchen from pan searing. Marinades infuse throughout food for exceptional flavoring. Brining becomes a rediscovered art in cooking. Not solely for dinner preparation, this SousVide Supreme Demi soft-boils, poaches or scrambles eggs and produces delicately creamy custards without any supervision. Instructional booklet includes cooking temperatures, times based upon thickness: beef, lamb, bison, spare ribs, baby back ribs, pork chops, roasts, chicken (white and dark), duck, seafood, vegetables (root and tender), fruit, eggs and recipes. Thermometer with prong to regulate temperature from 0 to 400 F. Brushed stainless-steel and stainless-steel exterior. Easy-lift stainless-steel perforated tray and pouch rack are dishwasher safe. 550 watts.

I had the pleasure of reviewing the Sous Vide! I can think of so many ways it can be helpful in the kitchen! I think the best thing about it is that your food can sit in the controlled water bath even after it has cooked and you don’t need to worry about it drying out or overcooking. It stays at that temperature until you’re ready to take it out! I can see this really coming in handy around the holidays!
I tried two recipes so far. For the first one, I cooked 2 rib eye steaks.
First, I seasoned the steaks with salt and pepper, added a tablespoon of butter, and vacuum sealed them.
I heated up the water in the Sous Vide and cooked the steaks to medium rare at 134°F.
Just before we were ready to eat, I browned them quickly in a pan. The inside was done perfectly! Next time I will broil or quickly grill them for a minute on each side to get that charred flavor that I love so much.
I am not usually good at making the best steaks, so this method will be great for me as I won’t overcook them for Dave. He likes them more rare than me.
The second thing I cooked with my Sous Vide is buttered carrots.
I made two packages of sliced carrots seasoned with salt and pepper and a tablespoon of butter. I love this because I can package them ahead of time and leave them in the refrigerator until I’m ready to cook them.
I cooked the carrots at 185°F for 40 minutes and they were just right!

I’m awful at cooking meats because I’m always afraid of undercooking them. Plus, I’m always juggling multiple dishes while my kids are running around distracting me. Looks like a fool-proof way to make a meal without too much stress.

I have a hard time getting all my dishes ready and keeping them piping hot and ready to serve at the same time. I would love this machine for the ability to let it sit and stay perfect while I finish prepare the side dishes. I am also not very good with beef or pork. I can cook chicken to perfection but would love the ability to do so with any type of meat. Thanks for the chance!

There is no better way to cook a perfect steak.
I want to win this because with it’s precision, I would be insured not to overcook my meats anymore! I see them cook using this method on shows like Iron Chef, Top Chef, etc. and I’ve always wanted one of these - I thought they were only available for commercial kitchens!
