Here is my “go to” recipe that we enjoy for football games, get-togethers, and holidays. Many years ago, my sister Michele brought this to a family gathering and it has been a favorite ever since. You can find this recipe in my cookbook.
I use Lite Polska Kielbasa to save on fat and calories, but you can take your pick from the many different varieties of kielbasa. If you make this for a big party, double the recipe. I bake it and then transfer it to my crock pot (on the buffet setting) to keep it warm at a party.
I like this recipe because it freezes well (uncooked). Simply mix all of the ingredients in a gallon-size freezer bag, remove as much air as possible, seal, and label with directions.
Party Kielbasa
Ingredients
- 2 lbs. Lite Polska Kielbasa, cut into 1/4 to 1/2-inch slices
- ½ cup vinegar
- ¼ cup tomato ketchup
- ¼ cup barbecue sauce
- 1½ cups light brown sugar, packed
Cooking Directions
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Mix all of the ingredients together in a 13 x 9-inch baking dish. Bake for 50 minutes, turning half way through.
Serves 5 - 6
Freezing Directions
Combine all of the ingredients in a gallon-size freezer bag. Remove as much air as possible, seal, and label with directions. Freeze up to 3 months.
MMMMMM! This sounds - and looks - wonderful! My hubby doesn’t care for the BBQ taste, but my kids would love this as well. So glad you shared - would definitely be a hit to enjoy during the big game! Enjoy a Super weekend Friend!
P.S. - I’m thrilled to have the cookbook this is in too…=) I’ll be marking that page today!
This looks so yummy. I’ve made a version where it calls for equal parts jelly and bbq sauce.
My husband and son would LOVE this dish! What a great idea for an afternoon of football watching. I love things like this that could be made in advance and kept warm while serving guests. I’ll definitely make this one soon. Have a super weekend!! And thanks for linking to Saturday Swap!
Yum, love these! Love the party picks too!!
these are SO yummy!!!!
Thanks for linking these up!
What a great idea since those mini wieners are always gone when I think of making a dish like this. I always have some kielbasa in the fridge! Thanks for linking to Hunk of Meat Monday.
I’m a nibbler…and I know I’d be drawn to bowl of nummy sausage! Sounds great, Jane. Thanks for sharing it w/ the hearth and soul hop this week :)
Sounds tasty! Similar sweet & sour to the grape jelly/chile sauce recipe that my SIL likes to make. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Jane! This looks yummy and oh so easy a treat for a party. I love the full flavor of the sausage with the tangy sauce! Thanks so much for sharing it on the hearth and soul hop today! All the best! Alex
oh how i love this recipe! i get asked to bring apps all the time and i love the spicy/sweet of this…and who doesn’t love kielbasa! thank you for sharing with tuesday night supper club
Jane, I wish you were my mom, i would definitely learn a lot from you. LMAO thanks for the post
I have never eaten nor seen kielbasa but do know approximately what it is in general. Would you kindly advise IF the kielbasa is baked whole with the sauce in and around it? OR slits cut into it? OR sliced in advance of baking. I imagine that this would work well with a salami also. Thank you.
Hi Faleen,
I just fixed it. Slice the kielbasa first, before you cook it in the sauce.
