Melt in Your Mouth Monday Blog Hop #42

Wow!  This weekend flew by fast for me!  On Saturday, I traveled on a bus to NYC with my Sister-in-Law Gail!  It was about 4 1/2 hours down and back.  I saw my first Broadway Show - WICKED!  It was so much fun!  The performance was truly outstanding!  When the show was over, we had a back stage tour! Gail and I took a picture with a few members of the cast but they didn’t come out too good. The flash was not on! :( Here are the best photos that I took after I figured that out.

The Gershwin Theatre

Jackie Burns (center) played Elphaba the green witch!  She warmly greeted us back stage.  The children posing with her were on the tour with us.  Check out this video of Jackie Burns and Chandra Lee Schwartz (who played Glinda) in Wicked!

Chandra Lee Schwartz’ dressing room!

In the center, handsome actor Richard H. Blake (who played Fiyero) talks to several people on a tour. The woman in the pink shirt was the one that took us on the tour. She’s the understudy for Elphaba!

A view from the stage

We saw lots of costumes!

Our day ended at Bryant Park where the bus picked us up.  It was the perfect time to see the outdoor ice skating rink and big Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center.  It was absolutely beautiful!

Have you ever seen WICKED?

Glad you liked it- sounds like a great trip! We saw it a few years ago when Kristin Chenowith and Idina Menzel were still in it. Unfortunately, we went on a holiday weekend so there were a lot of understudies in the cast but it was still really well done. Personally, I didn’t care for it but it’s because I expected the book and it definitely wasn’t- it was a much milder, happier version of the story. The music was amazing, it simply wasn’t the story I expected so I was a bit disappointed. My husband hadn’t read it and liked it a lot more than I did. :)

What fun your New York trip seemed to be. I have never been to New York, but my granddaughter got to go there with a group a few years ago when she was in middle school. She even got to go to a Broadway show. It was quite an experience for her. Thanks for having another great party. Today I bring Lumpy Coal Cookies. This is a versatile drop cookie made with a brownie mix. Have a great week.

Thank you so much for hosting! I shared a Creamy Herb Chicken Salad w/ Pomegranate recipe. The combo of the herbs, sweet crunch of the pomegranate arils and the creaminess of the dressing (made from ground sprouted sunflower seeds) is so yummy. Thanks again.
