Whenever I was younger, my parents didn’t watch what I ate or really limit my food.  So as the years went by I definitely put on a few pounds that didn’t need to be there.  As I got older, I began to read about nutrition and now know the proper way to snack, eat and exercise, and the weight came right off.  Now with four kids, I want to teach them healthy eating habits that will last them a lifetime.

Like most kids, mine like snacks throughout the day and we also pack lunches so I’m always on the lookout for products that not only taste good, but are good for them too.  One bar we all agree on are the CLIF Kid Zbar®.  CLIF Kid® makes nutritious snacks from organic ingredients that are specially-crafted for kids’ developing taste buds and active lives.  The kids love the taste of them, and I love that they are made with organic ingredients, they are Non-GMO and have no high fructose corn syrup, artificial flavors, or synthetic preservatives.  They do have important nutrients for active kids and are the appropriate portion size for kids in flavors they love.

To keep the kids heading in the right direction I make sure they:

  • Eat breakfast (which can be something as quick as a CLIF Kid Zbar®) because it fuels them up for the day ahead!
  • We sit down for dinner so we can discuss what everyone has done that day and communicate with each other.
  • They adhere to a strict bedtime because having the proper amount of sleep is necessary to function.
  • They brush their teeth twice a day to ensure healthy teeth and gums.
  • No soda or sugary drinks to bog them down.
  • No electronics throughout the week so they are focused on school and when they’re done they can go outside, play and get exercise.

Balanced and active play lays the foundation for a skilled, healthy, resilient and successful society.

Every morning one goes into their lunch boxes.  I feel good knowing that when they’re in school they are getting a blend of carbs, fiber, protein, and fat that will give them the energy they need.  CLIF Kid is dedicated to reclaiming play, and they are encouraging boys and girls everywhere to get back outside, push their boundaries and feed their adventures.  Take a look at this video to see more!

Cheers to healthy and delicious nutrition!
