Do you watch The Barefoot Contessa on the Food Network? I record her shows on my DVR so I can enjoy watching them on my free time. Ina recently showed how to make Irish Soda Bread. I made it last weekend and my husband and I loved it! It goes great with Corned Beef and Cabbage. Instead of the currants in her recipe, I used baking raisins and I left out the orange zest. You can spread butter, jam, or cream cheese on a slice of this delicious bread. I highly recommend this recipe. It’s so easy to make. You knead it a few times and shape it (as shown below). There’s no yeast in the recipe so there’s no rising time involved. Here’s the link to her recipe for Irish Soda Bread.
The dough is very sticky, so sprinkle some flour over it so you can shape the dough without getting the dough stuck to your hands.
Cut an X in the dough with a serrated knife.
Looks fabulous! I'm a big fan of Ina Garten - going to give this a try, thanks for posting it.
Your loaf is gorgeous! I've always wanted to try making soda bread, and each year, St. Pattie's day passes me by before I get up the nerve. Maybe this is the year!
A beautiful loaf! Never tried making soda bread before, but this is so tempting!
