I Hate Goodbyes!

I’ve never been able to say goodbye to family without crying and this morning was no exception. My son Matthew left this morning to start his travel abroad program around the world. (see previous post) We had a long hug and a tearful goodbye. (wait…I need another tissue)

How is a 20 year old ready to do this? My husband and I talked about this yesterday. We both agreed that we never would have done this at his age. Times have changed! He’s so brave to do this by himself.

I told Matthew to call or text me when he has time on his layover in CA. But I didn’t have to wait that long. On my way to work I got a text message from him that said “I’m on the plane. Luv u.” God I love him! That made my day!

With all of this talk about Matthew, I thought I’d share a picture of him today. This is Matthew, my husband Dave, and I on his high school Graduation Day a few years ago. Have a great weekend everybody!

    Hello Jane,

Your son is very brave…but what an awesome time he will have…so very cool!

I know you are happy, but I can truly understand how sad/happy a time it is for you and your family!

Hubby and I don't have any children (by choice), but I do have two nieces and one is graduating high school this year, so I do feel those feelings.

I wanted to tell you how SO delighted I am at winning a copy of your cookbook from Jenn at Foodie Blogroll! I LOVE IT! and thank you so much for your kindness of letting me enjoy this book! I am so happy at how easy and delish your recipes sound…will be making plenty of them and posting on my blog!

I will be using most of the time gluten free flour, but I'm sure they will turn out wonderful!

    Thanks again!

Warm blessings to you and your family!

    Hugs,

    Pam

P.S. I added you to my blogroll so I can keep up to date!

    Hey Jane,

First, what a nice picture and post! I was starting to tear up reading your post. It reminded me of how fast they grow up and how this will be me soon enough.

Matthew will have a wonderful time, just like my brother-in-law's sister did (last) semester. And he will be back before you know it. In the meantime, what a great thing to do in your classroom. It will be nice to have that connection to make it more interesting for kiddos.
Looking forward to hearing about his trip!
