This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of The Folger Coffee Company. The opinions and text are all mine.

To say I have a love for the military is an understatement; my husband is a Veteran who served in the Marine Corps and guarded the president.  I have a great appreciation to all the men and women who have served or are serving; it takes a lot of dedication to be in the military.  Folgers and Walmart would like to go beyond a simple thanks to our Veterans by Sharing a Cup and a Story.  I’m excited that I get to share one of mine with you!

One time my husband was away for training and I was pregnant with our first baby.  I was in my last trimester and he was worried that I was going to go into labor while he was away.  Now this was a time when there weren’t cell phones so having an easy way to call me was out the picture!  He decided that once he was done training for the day,  he was going to knock on someone’s door (all covered in mud) and ask them if he could use their phone.  He knocked on the closest one he found and a little old lady opened the door.  At first she was startled, but once my husband explained why he was there, she had no problem with him using the phone.  He said she was so sweet, and once he was done calling she asked all about our family and his training.  To this day, I am forever grateful to her because she gave me peace of mind knowing that my husband was okay and that he would soon be home.

Nowadays my husband is busy working and raising our four kids!  However he likes to grab a cup of Folgers coffee and share stories about his time in the military.  After he came out of the field, he was chosen for Presidential duty, and the kids love to hear who he got to meet, where he got to go, and reminisce through all of his memorabilia.  He allows the kids to take his stuff to school and share his stories as well.  Since Veterans day is coming up he will be going into school to attend a special program, have lunch and talk about the military.  It’s a wonderful time, for all veterans, to share their stories with children.

Do you have a family member, a loved one, or even a neighbor who is a veteran?  Take the time to sit down, share a cup of Folgers coffee, and listen to their story.  Folgers wanted me to share my story of a Veteran in my life as a way of saying thank you.  Listening and spending time with a Veteran is something anyone can and should do as a way to really say thank you!  Listen to a story of a past adventure or just giving a little time can go a long way and show the gratitude our Veterans deserve.

Stop by your local Walmart, grab some Folgers coffee (Walmart offers so many varieties), visit a Veteran and let the conversation begin.  Folgers and Walmart’s “Share a Cup and a Story” program will allow you to enrich the Veteran experience and show your gratitude beyond a simple thanks, and encourage meaningful moments that bring people together.  If you’d like more ideas and inspiration please visit Walmart’s Veterans page and I encourage you to take a look at this video too. I know I cannot wait to “share a cup and a story” with my veteran on Veterans Day, and I hope you will share a special one with yours! #sharefolgers #veteransday
