THIS GIVEAWAY IS OVER!  THANKS FOR ENTERING!

Have you ever checked out Chefs Catalog!  They have everything a foodie could want!  Click on the new Store tab on the right hand side of my navigation bar (at the top of my blog) to check out their amazing products!  I am proud to be a new affiliate!

My husband, Dave, bought my Slow Cooker from Chefs Catalog several years ago and I also did a review/giveaway on one of their Vacuum Sealers back in the Fall.  I have been very happy with their products and service and would be more than pleased to fill my kitchen with anything from their catalog!

Well, hold on to your hats my dear foodie friends!  The folks at Chefs Catalog have graciously offered to give away an amazing Ice Cream Maker Package to one of my readers for your summer enjoyment!  There are 4 products for one lucky winner:

[1] Cuisinart Pure Indulgence Frozen Yogurt-Sorbet and Ice Cream Maker

[2] (Set of 4) BIA Cordon Bleu White Porcelain Ice Cream Bowls

[3] (Set of 8) Stainless-Steel Ice Cream Spoons

[4] 1 package of LorAnn Oils Flavor Fountain Ice Cream Flavorings

Cuisinart Pure Indulgence Frozen Yogurt-Sorbet and Ice Cream Maker

(set of 4) BIA Cordon Bleu White Porcelain Ice Cream Bowls

(Set of 8) Stainless-Steel Ice Cream Spoons

1 package of LorAnn Oils Flavor Fountain Ice Cream Flavorings

I had the pleasure of reviewing all 4 giveaway products!  The Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker is super easy to use and all the parts to this machine are a breeze to wash.  There’s nothing complicated about it.  You have an on/off switch and a plug.  It couldn’t be easier!

My niece, Kailey, helped me make this heavenly strawberry ice cream from the recipe in the Cuisinart Recipe Booklet. It was easy and there was no cooking involved.  Just mix the ingredients together and pour in the ice cream maker!  We brought some home to her family and her Dad thought it tasted just as good as the ice cream you get at an ice cream shop.  I have to agree!  It was creamy and perfect!

HELPFUL INFO ABOUT MAKING ICE CREAM

  • You need to freeze the removable bowl for 1 - 2 days in advance.
  • If you are planning on making ice cream on a regular basis, then you should keep the removable bowl (covered) in your freezer at all times.  That way, you’re ready to make ice cream at a moment’s notice.
  • The ice cream will thicken and freeze faster in the machine if your cream ingredients have been chilled.
  • Plan on making only one batch of ice cream per day as the bowl will thaw out when it is washed and will take a full day or two to refreeze completely.  If you shake the bowl and hear the water inside, it is not ready to use.
  • Read the recipe directions thoroughly before you make it.  Some recipes require a little planning, cooking, and cooling before you make the ice cream.
  • Once you make the ice cream, you need to transfer the ice cream to a tightly sealed container and freeze for a few hours to set up.

With strawberry being Kailey’s favorite flavor, we also tested out this easy strawberry ice cream using the LorAnn strawberry flavoring and the recipe on the back of the LorAnn Oils flavorings box.  It was delicious and had more of a soda fountain milkshake taste to it because we used half and half for this one instead of the heavy cream.  Kailey enjoyed this as a milkshake before we put the rest in the freezer to continue setting up.  If you’re into milkshakes, you got to try these flavorings!  They’re awesome!  The LorAnn Flavor Fountain flavorings can be added to ice cream, shakes, or smoothies.

I’m very happy with the white porcelain ice cream bowls (as shown above)!  You can fit plenty of ice cream in them and they’re perfect for when you have company.  The ice cream spoon set is casual and the size is very kid-friendly.

I used cream for this yummy Butter Pecan ice cream.   I followed the recipe on the back of the LorAnn box and used 1 tablespoon of the Butter Pecan flavoring and some chopped pecans.  This was so easy and delicious!

This is what the ice cream looks like when it is done after 25 minutes.  It’s soft enough to scoop it out of the ice cream maker, yet it needs a few more hours to firm up in the freezer.

The Cuisinart Recipe Booklet has the following recipes: Simple Vanilla Ice Cream, Fresh Strawberry Ice Cream, Simple Chocolate Ice Cream, Peanut Butter Cup Ice Cream, Coffee Butter Almond Ice Cream, Pumpkin Pie Ice Cream, Chocolate Mint Ice Cream, Pistachio Ice Cream, Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, Deep Dark Chocolate Ice Cream, Creamy Butter Pecan Ice Cream, Red Raspberry Gelato, Blueberry Cassis Gelato, Mango Gelato, Green Tea Gelato, Vanilla Frozen Yogurt, Chocolate Cherry Frozen Yogurt, Very Berry Frozen Yogurt, Coffee Latte Frozen Yogurt, Fresh Lemon Sorbet, Cranberry Sorbet, Cantaloupe Sorbet, Dark Chocolate Sorbet, Sweet Dark Cherry Sorbet, Slushies, Brown Cow Slushy, Slushy Julius, and Raspberry ‘Ritas.

    Ooh, this sounds so yummy!

We used to make ice cream when I was growing up, but we didn’t even have a hand-cranked ice cream machine. Mum would freeze the ingredients in an ice cube tray, and then — when it had started to firm up — she’d mush the semi-frozen cubes in a bowl with a big fork. Then, she’d put the bowl in the freezer to set it.

When the ice cream was ready, we’d all go out to the back porch and savor the icy goodness. It was one time when Mum didn’t raise an eyebrow when we actually licked our bowls!

This was a very big treat in our family, and it only happened a couple of times each summer.

Years later, right after I got married, my husband and I had an electric ice cream maker. It wasn’t nearly as fancy as the Cuisinart in your photo, and our ice cream certainly didn’t turn out as nice looking as what’s in your pictures.

Today, my husband and I often buy ice cream at the store, reading the labels to find the ice cream that has the fewest ingredients we can’t identify. It’s frustrating, and I know the ice cream doesn’t taste as good as homemade.

My thoughts have wandered back to the days when we made ice cream at home, and I know he’d be so happy if I were to make ice cream for us again.

Flavors I’d choose…? Gosh, that’s not easy. Everything on the list sounds so delicious!

My husband is a pushover for any ice cream that includes peanut butter, so the Peanut Butter Cup ice cream sounds perfect for him.

I have fond childhood memories of sorbets, and we live not far from Cape Cod where cranberries — originally “crane berries” — are grown. So, I think my first choice would be the Cranberry Sorbet recipe.

Thanks to you and to Cuisinart for making this giveaway a happy journey through wonderful memories!
