Cookbook Giveaway: Lidia’s Favorite Recipes

I am so excited to review Lidia Bastianich’s new cookbook Lidia’s Favorite Recipes!  I have watched her cooking show over the years and have always thought that her recipes were delicious and fairly simple to make.  Truth be told, Italian food is my absolute favorite cuisine and the thought of being able to make some of Lidia’s recipes in my new kitchen makes the foodie in me very happy.

The colored photos in this hard covered cookbook are mouthwatering to say the least!  Lidia shares appetizers, salads & soups, sandwiches & pizza, pastas/polentas/risottos, sauces, sides & vegetables, seafood, poultry & meats, and desserts.

I’m a huge Tiramisu fan, so I’m planning to make her Limoncello Tiramisu for Thanksgiving dessert! Can’t wait to try that!

I’ll tell ya what I have made already…this scrumptious Meatloaf With Ricotta on page 167!  This photo doesn’t do it justice.  IT WAS THE BEST MEATLOAF I EVER MADE!  Look at the melted mozzarella cheese oozing out!  Why didn’t I ever think of adding fresh cubes of mozzarella cheese to my meatloaf?  Holy cow!  This is awesome!

I have to be honest, I was a little short on time and didn’t cover and cook it as long as directed.  I cooked it (uncovered) until the thermometer inserted into the meatloaf registered 160°F and it was outstanding.  :)

I also made Lidia’s Butter and Sage Sauce with fettucine on page 105.  I threw this together for a quick weeknight side dish.  It was tasty and simple.  I loved the fresh sage in the dish.  Next time I make it, I’m going to throw a little more in there!

There are many recipes that I have bookmarked in the book such as:  Spaghetti and Meatballs, Baked Stuffed Shells, Basic Potato Gnocchi, Smothered Escarole, Eggplant Parmigiana, Shrimp Prepared in the Scampi Style, Chicken Cacciatore, Chicken Parmigiana (New Style), My Mother’s Chicken and Potatoes, Braised Beef Rolls, and Cannoli Napoleons.

If you like Italian food as much as I do, I think you will love this cookbook!
